Older Naples homes will be impacted by new remodel methods developed by the Environmental Protection Agency. For contractors involved in remodels on houses built before 1978, the EPA calls for lead training, certification, and safe work practice requirements. By the year 2010, the objective is to clear the public health concern of lead poisoning.

Lead has been used for many years in paint and is an extremely hazardous metal. It can lead to a variety of health issues and children under the age of six are most at risk because their nervous systems are not yet completely developed.
